The Floor Pro Is Getting a New Suit of Clothes
The Floor Pro Community Forums Are Open for Business!
There’s still plenty of work to do, but the forum is open and running. Log in (or register, if you don’t already have an account) and try it out. There may be some stumbles, but let me know what issues you are having and I will sort them out. It’s a good weekend to play on TFP.
It’s almost ready, hold on!
It’s almost 7:00 AM and I am just trying to figure out a few things before I let you all in. There is a lot of work left to do, but much of that I can do while the forum is open for business. But I need to make the menu system visible, or everyone will be yellin’ at me. Gimme a little more time.
3:00 AM: Two-hour Update
It’s been a couple hours and importing data and testing is still going on. Like you, I am still waiting (im)patiently until I can log in and do my part of the software conversion. I’m drinking lots of coffee and anxiously biding my time. Here’s a screenshot of the forum home page in test mode:
Check back soon for more updates.
New forum software that will make it more functional, easier to read and participate and a cooler place to hang out
Shortly after midnight tonight (5/20/17), Pacific time, the forum will shut down and the conversion to xenForo forum software will begin. It will take hours. I wish I could give you a time frame, but we (myself and an experienced professional) will work hard to bring the forum back up as quickly as possible.
You will still be able to view the website home page (you’re looking at it right now). I will leave any important messages about the progress if it seems to be taking too long (more than 4 hours) so you will see them here in this post. You can also comment below, if you wish, and I will try to answer any questions as they come in.
The new software is more modern and full of great features, many of which are similar to what you already have used on TFP, some will be new and different than you are used to. I’m sure there will be plenty of discussion and questions on the forum once we get back up and running.
Thanks for your patience and most of all, thanks for being part of The Floor Pro Community. Just so you don’t forget, the graphic you see is what the forum home page used to look like with the old vBulletin software. Compare it to the look and feel of the new software… well, you can’t do that quite yet, but soon.
Jim McClain grew up in rural Plumas County, CA. After a short, but exciting stint in the US Army, where he dodged work in Germany and incoming rounds in Vietnam, he settled back into country living and took a part-time job as an installer’s helper to work his way through college. He fell in love with the business and turned it into a career. Retiring from sales & installations in 2006, he still carries on his love affair with the industry through the use of a computer, a digital camera and a little space in “teh Ether”.
