I like it as well. The hardwood, not as much. I saw an lvp with every fourth row a different color, looked obtrusive.

That's what it looks like to me, as if there was a rummage sale down the block and somehow there was a bunch of leftover, partial cartons so they bundled it all just to cover the floor------couldn't afford a normal wood flooring

Vapor barrier is down and I’m ready to lay. Just like taking candy from a baby.

    Back at the ol' Goatscrew.
Actually we had this whole area prepped from last week. Not one person came through the caution tape and all we had to do was sand, sweep and install.

I hate to be a downer, but there is an upside to this one.

I found out that a very dear friend who was the very first person who taught me to install flooring many years ago passed away. He's was only about 5 years older than me and I saw him like an older brother. We almost went into business together once, but I was geared more toward the sales side of things and he loved to install.

So I spent today just thinking of all the things that he taught me that I use everyday and I was amazed at the length of the list. When you think things suck, when you're having a down day, when you think this industry is doomed, just stop for 5 minutes and think about someone who helped you get started, who took a few extra minutes of their day to show you something. Then think about how many times you use that skill or knowledge and I guarantee that it will make you feel just a little bit better. Hopefully, it will also make you take another 5 minutes to share that with someone who's starting out and needs that same guidance. So someday you'll be that guy they think about.

Brian old buddy you'll be missed but never forgotten!

If it were me building this I would of poured a footer and block. Maybe not pour solid but when a new Cadillac hit this it kept going. Hollow, They went straight and right through it instead of rounding the corner. Medical problem? Early (6:30am)

Looking good. What are you banding the inside with? Same material? How do you handle the transition from floor to edge?

Floor is 3/4 engineered and I'm gonna drop a 2.5 inch piece of 1/4 maple around the inside flush to the top of the wood and stained to match the railing.... at least that is the plan.

That's why it took all day to do the inside. It had to be mint so we can flush mount an edge to it tomorrow. If I don't upload pictures tomorrow it means it didn't work lol

So it's a crappy photo... but it shows the piece we stained and installed flush with the finish floor. You zoom into that beauty.... it is pre filler and only the one board shows even the smallest ouchie, we filled it this afternoon and it is beautiful. I'm back there on Wednesday and will post a good one 20180208_103143.jpg
