“It doesn’t get any easier does it?” (Flooring Removal) Is what I was asked as an Installation contractor said while near my truck. “No, I’m at maximum efficiency, I don’t see any way to increase it.”

So then of course that statement got me thinking. It’s not true, I can improve in several areas, just haven’t implemented them yet. It was motivational for me though, swift kick in the ass with that conversation helped push me further.

With some lag time in work trying to do some modifications to cut time, improve efficiency which should always be fluid/continuous, not static.

It’s so funny how we don’t talk anymore.

Pertaining to how we can build upon our companies and help each other out but I don’t see your participation equal nor the effort, therefor I accept.

It appears we all go our own way, and away I go. Cept here, I’ll bounce any idea I have off the four corners of my screen like Atari.

One night job ruins two day jobs.

The day of you can’t work, then the next day you’re not going to work through unless you pull double shift which takes its toll.

Yep. You better roll in prepared because nobody is open if you run out of something and most of the time there is nobody answering the phone if you have a problem. I’m thinking one night job is worth 3 day jobs because you know you still aren’t right after the 2nd day.

Customer tells me today “you have anyone complain about your work tell em to call me, I’ll straighten em out.!” Guy looked like an old Bert Reynolds. Said his Ram truck with Cummins diesel was nice as he had a Chevy, they’re shorter so that may work for me and he said they’re not loud inside and will last 300k miles, I said I don’t want a truck that lasts that long. I do see a lot of old Cummins motors on the road but I think the cockpit needs all the newest bells and whistles, Internet, air conditioned seats, etc. says 21mpg towing trailers I think I’m on the Diesel train.

The Cummins is bulletproof but the automatic transmission is garbage. If you chip the truck, that’s when you get decent mpg towing. If not, it drops down to 9 or 10 pulling a 5th wheel. I’ve done the diesel thing. I like diesel but every time it went into the shop it stung a bit more than a gas rig. The wife had a diesel bug and one of the gas jockeys in Oregon filled it up with regular. That cost Fred Meyers 5K.

The products limitations do not meet the customers expectations.

Prepping for future jobs, talk is cheap, equipment is not.

Had a guy talking about removing 2500 ft of tile, so you have to gear up equipment. Then I ask him about it and he says they’re going with floating vinyl.

Peoples talk is cheap, worthless sometimes, thought people had more integrity than a bunch of BS.

    “ Why isn’t” - - -. I think starting with that question leads to learning/value.

For Ex. - why isn’t @t4f or @tools4flooring a member here so when talked about they can respond or help?

@TFP. I usually say “where u is/b? Instead of at, so I hope this message finds U.

“Let me talk to my Wife” usually translates to no thank you, that’s too much.

It’s possible to get less expensive and better quality. Looking at TV’s they’re bigger , better, and cheaper than the one I bought 10 years ago. Flooring is moving in the opposite direction

“Pray For me, - not On me.” In reference to some customers saying as I leave or others times “have a blessed day.” The “On” me is prior to an estimate I hear the homeowner through the grapevine that they’ll get some cheap labor to come in. Well that’s not Me.

And it also coincides with the hurricane that hit the Bahamas and the future ripoffs to follow. I’m not in this “game” to be taken advantage of. I adjusted my method for the situation and lowered cost customer agreed.

Details, are always better! Customers don’t always ask their concerns, they want to know a number and comparisons are different.

I hear ‘have a blessed day’ all the time when I’m home. Grocery store, restaurant, gas station or just about anywhere people exist. It’s the culture down south. It also lets me know that I left some money on the table when a customer says it.

I used to hear stuff like ‘be well’ or ‘be good to yourself’ all the time on the west coast. What, did I just leave a Walgreens? Made me do a double take in my van mirror a couple times wondering if I looked like I just crawled out from under a bridge or what.
