Some of you may not be aware that we now have a directory of flooring professionals. I am still making some minor modifications to make it easy for you to view the directory and add your listings. I hope you'll take the time to check it out and offer any feedback.

A directory listing is very similar to having a full-page ad in your phone book's yellow pages. If you realize that most homes now have computers and are connected to the internet, you may understand that even people in your location look businesses up on the net to learn more about them. More people now are reaching for their keyboard and mouse before reaching for the telephone book.

Because the PRO Directory is just getting started, there are less than a dozen listings so far. Here's some you might want to check out:

Barry Carlton, Installation Specialist - PRO Directory
Roger W. Richardson - PRO Directory
    Custom Floors - PRO Directory
Armstrong World Industries - PRO Directory
The KOOLGIDE System - PRO Directory
Flooring Inspection Training Services, Inc. - PRO Directory
International Certified Floorcovering Installers, Inc. - PRO Directory
    BlueTarp Financial - PRO Directory

You might wonder how people find these listings. If you start at the directory home page, the link at the beginning of this post, you will see all the categories. It's a navigation system that allows you to quickly find what you are looking for. And there's a search feature there too.

The Floor Pro Community has been doing very well in search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.) and more and more people are visiting us every day. Soon they will be visiting our directory to find the flooring business, service or other information they seek. I plan to make it the best flooring directory on the internet.

You are welcome to add your own listing. It will be a good test to see if I have made the process easy. If you have trouble, let me know and I will do whatever is necessary to fix any problems. All members who are flooring professionals will get a free, 1 page listing. It will help bring traffic to your own website or act similar to a website for you if you don't have one. The idea is to help your business, whether you service only the town or city you live in, or a much larger corner of the world.

    Best R'gards,

    Jim

We use to have a list like this, what happened to it?

Yes, I am a dummy! How do I add my listing, which I had done months ago?

Sorry for any confusion over this. This is not the same as the forum, Looking For A Flooring Professional or Product - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources This is a totally new feature added just a week ago: PRO Directory of Flooring Products and Services There is a permanent link to it in the navbar near the top of every page. It's labeled PRO Directory.

Once you visit the directory, you can see the directory's own navigation menu and see the link to Submit Listing. I have tried to make the process intuitive, so please let me know if something isn't working right or seems to be missing something - even if it's just directions. It should be as simple as posting a message on the forum.

All the pro listings that are or were in the "Looking for..." forum are going to end up in the new directory. You can find your own there and copy & paste the same info into your new listing. I will edit the old listing in the forum to link directly to your new listing.

    R'gards,

    Jim

I have added a set of instructions in a module in the Submit Listing page (you'll see the link to Submit Listing in the navigation on any directory page). The text is small, but it should help any of you that may be hesitant about posting a listing.
