I'm trying to decide between Mannington Adura Max and Tarkett ProGen. Mannington info says 8mm; ProGen says 5mm but also notes 20 mil protective wear layer. This is for a foyer, so we're a little concerned about scratching. Is there an advantage of one over another?

Both the Adura max and Progen are good products. They both have 20 mil wear layers. The big difference is the products center core. Progen has the newest core technology, a stone composite verses a wood composite. The stone core is more rigid and will take higher impacts before denting would occur.
