I have noticed that is some of the posts that some words are slightly lighter. If you click on them they take you somewhere else BUT not to what the poster is talking about. Example Chris had sad carpet base in answer to me and carpet base was high lighted. I clicked and it showed the cups you would put under legs.
    What gives?

In order to pay the bills, I have to use software that adds links to certain words and phrases. This is called affiliate marketing. If someone clicks the link and buys something on the website they land on, I get a couple pennies (the commission is based on the sale total, but is usually less than 1%). Every little bit helps, especially since prices for software and server rent continue to increase.

For several years, I was using a company called Skimlinks to do this. The checks are small, but for some reason, the amount was reduced by nearly 50% the last 4 or 5 months. I shopped around and found a different company called VigLink (see their affiliate button at the bottom of every page). They promised me $100.00 per month for 3 months to switch and also promised that they have about 60% more publishers, which should mean more relative affiliates (furniture protectors are related to carpet). If you hover over the links, they state they were added by the software.

No one has to follow a link. I am trying to figure out a way that will make those invisible to members who provide financial support to TFP, just as I do banner and text ads from Google Adsense and other sponsors. But I just switched to Viglink on Jan. 1 and we haven't worked out the bugs yet.

If you find any ad or link that is offensive or irrelevant, please let me know. Easiest way is to click the Report Post icon you see in every post ([IMG]) and type in your reason for reporting it. I am not allowed to click ads (publisher rules, not mine) and I do not want members to click ad links thinking they are doing me a favor - I could get in a lot of financial trouble if they find out and they always do.
