    Unfortunately the $59 price is only for select cities and of course Detroit to Vegas is not a choice. Probably won't let that keep me from going though.

    The Luxor is the hotel my reservations are at. It was also one of the cheapest, at $48.00 per night. My map says it's about half a mile from the convention, another map I saw said it was .3 miles. Either one is good for me on my Segway.

    Mandalay Bay (beautiful hotel) is across the street from the Luxor. If I remember right there is a sky bridge that joins the two hotels together so you do not have to worry about crossing the street.

    1/2 mile is not right unless you get lost and take a wrong turn in the hotel. :eek:


    I would recommend going down to Margaritaville and getting lunch or dinner sometime. It is a ways down though so you will either have to take the bus or taxi.

    Also across the street from the luxor in the MGM Grand they have a great place to eat called the Rainforest café. Fantastic place for dinner!

    If you decide to rent a car, I would not rent one at the airport. Yes it may be a few dollars cheaper but they are absolute sharks and preditors their. Most all of the hotels have a car rental agency there and they are far more friendly to deal with!

    Is the $397 for the 2 day hard and soft floors education worth it? Or is it better to just see the free stuff and wander the streets looking for a slot machine to try to get my money back from the plane tickets and lost work?;)

    I am not sure what is learned in the non-free seminars to know if it is what I want to do...y'know?

    Perusing the booths, meeting fellow TFPers, whatever seminars you want to attend, and a get away....that makes it worth it. Besides...it's all floors and flooring. :yesss:

    The airport in my city has 10% airport tax on top of the regular sales taxes. This includes rent cars. You can go across the street off airport property and get the same car they were going to bring you to the airport for 10% less. This could be the case at many airports, I don't know.

    Yes I do owe Mike a nice diner. I will be getting in Monday early evening. If any of you are getting in on Monday give me a call ( if you do not have my cell pm me ) we could get together and go over the show. This year the CFI booth is closer to the front again.

    PS I heard TFP was taking care of the bill.

    No you ain't. What forum did you try to start a new topic in? If it was the Industry & Training News, then yes, that's only for TFP Home Page news stories. Anyway, this is the topic to use for talking about this.
    Jeez, I almost fell outa my chair. I'm just grateful that some TFP members made it possible for me to go this year. I wish I could treat people to a meal or a snack. I am taking a TFP cup to give to Jane though.

    My itinerary is like this:

    Leave home Jan 21, spend the night in Hawthorne and arrive at my Las Vegas hotel the evening of Jan 22. I'm staying at the Excalibur, 3850 Las Vegas Boulevard South (between Las Vegas Blvd. & Tropicana). No plans for dinner yet.

    Jan 23 - Seminar: Social Media: How-To for Business 9am to Noon. No other plans as yet.

    Jan 24 - Seminar: Local Online Marketing: Strategies for Getting to the Top in Your Market 8 - 9:30am.
    Jan 24 - Seminar: Marketing Your Business on a Beer Budget 4 - 5:30pm. No other plans as yet.

    antonio-ballatore.jpg Jan 25 - Luncheon: Designer Luncheon - Featuring HGTV's Antonio Ballatore Noon - 1pm. Meeting with Gilbert Lau and anyone else who wants for an undetermined, but fun beginning of an evening at 8pm. No other plans.​


    Checkout of my hotel Jan 26 and begin the 2-day drive back home.

    You can contact me through my cell - 530-518-0023 - or you can leave messages here on the forum, my PM or via email - I will be taking my laptop and checking online whenever I can.

    I will be on my Segway and I don't s'pose too many others will be using that mode of transportation, so I won't be hard to spot in a crowd. I'll answer to yells of HEY T! or HEY JIM! and I would love to meet any and all TFP members. If you call, I'll make an effort to meet up with you wherever you want.

    On my want-to-do list after hours is to make it to an AA or NA meeting somewhere, even if it's at the convention, off in a corner someplace. So, if any of you want to accompany me, that would be great. I like out-of-town meetings.

    I also have this strange desire to see half-nekkid, dancing girls. I think there are a couple places that have them, with extremely loud music, flashing lights and brass poles. Go ahead, hate me if you want. I got 1 foot in the grave and don't much care. ;)

    Some kinda thick steak and being waited on hand and foot is also something I might enjoy. I did find a nice steakhouse that also has some of the above for dessert and they said it was a big place and me and my Segway were more than welcome. I'd enjoy having any of you join me, but I'm afraid it will have to be dutch treat.

    Did I mention I was real excited about this trip? :yesss:

    I am staying at the Luxor and will be in Monday so we could hook up that evening for a quick hello. I am signed up for 7 education events to go to along with two I am helping with on the s2 stage, I also have a lunchen with the WFCA on Wed at noon. Have a few early meetings with vendors but I can get free later in the evening.
    I am taking the 5pm flight back out on Thurs. don't want to pay for a night just to hang around.

    Sorry to say I won't make it again this year- a family matter. This makes it the 3rd year in a row I haven't been there. Its still going so I guess they can do without me one more year. Maybe next year.

    I signed up for a lot of seminars (mostly marketing stuff, my Achiles heel)
    but I hope to make time for TFPeople. I'm pretty jazzed about this!!!:D
