I would NEVER sell my tools, i might be a Floor Installer, but i aint stupid :D
I appreciate all the feedback fellas, it has been really good.

To answer your critique a little more in depth Elmer, i think there is a lot that COULD have been done to make it more enjoyable... but i took the low laying fruit and am running for the hills. In all honesty i lost the love for it a long time ago i think, not for the work itself but for the same reasons deep down i know that Incog would probably rather light the world on fire then set foot inside another site run by neanderthals... it seems this whole industry from Reps, to Sales, to Management to installers is just rotten. It makes me sad, but i am honestly tired of trying to make it different...

Oh and Mike, i am the Canadian Equivalent of the UPS man

Good luck to you brother! I truly feel like you're making the right move. You used your head to get in, pick the ripe fruits while they were there & handle your important business. Now you can work a 9-5 & not have to kill yourself physically and mentally. Hopefully your new job has all those nice little perks. Medical insurance, retirement plans etc. Plus if you ever wanted to pick up some extra $$$ you know you can. I'm sure you have some established clientele.

Kind of funny that you're living the American dream in Canada. Lol

Best of luck to ya bro.

UPS is in Canada too! What company in Canada?

Be careful there Mark. Package will chew you up and spit you out really quick! Easily harder on your body than installing.

Always, and I mean ALWAYS, use your handrail getting in and out of the vehicle. You wouldn't believe how it will save your knees. Walk, do NOT run. Running is how you get hurt the fastest.

I know a good forum for package also. PM me if interested.

Check in here on us from time to time.

I will be working for Purolator as an O/o so i can pretend i'm my own boss lol.
Sadly, i submitted my yearly work insurance premiums last night and last year which did feel like my busiest ever netted me the LEAST amount i have made in the last 6 years. Ewwww
Base guarantee wage is MORE than i made installing last year... thats sad

Know a guy who stepped off cargo trailer and broke his hip. Out for a year. My wife’s friends husband just retired UPS, 55?, (delivered to our house occasionally and also drove tractor trailers for them.) now traveling U.S., new driver is going to retire soon, looked at RV I tiled, hiswife wants to travel, a good way to see if you’re doing ok is look at your friends, retired and doing well, then look at yourself. See the problem? Life goes fast.

    Hey Mark,
Sorry I am late to finding this post. Best wishes on your new endeavor. Every time an installer with skills and qualifications leaves the trade the industry gets just a little worse.
I have been off the tools since 2014, though I have stayed in the industry. My role now partially involves educating installers. You would not believe the things I get to see and hear from these "professionals". Things that many of the pro's on this site do without thinking are "impossible" according to the folks I have spoken to. As I usually only get called in when things go horribly wrong, it would be easy for me to think that is the poor state of the industry. Coming on here to see people who care about their work and the industry allows me to keep a proper perspective. There are many good people left in the industry - though there is one fewer over on Vancouver Island now, and it is our loss. I will be heading over there next month to scare some salmon into the boat. I will hoist a cold one to your health and happiness. Try and stop in here from time to time to share your valuable insight.

Yeah, some fools in the flooring industry didn’t get him onboard.
