IICRC BSR S600 & S800 Standards Available for Public Review

Discussion in 'Industry News, Training & Organizations' started by Jim McClain, Jan 25, 2013.

  1. It just doesn't evoke emotion, they are asking I assume for installation standards review without much input, like the way some politicians slide bills thru. I guess it prevents gridlock, is there a CFI committee reviewing this ?

Mike, yes you have Jim Walker and Robert Varden that our commitee heads. How it work's is each commitee head is in charge of writting up their section's ( they both have two ) and they are summited in for all the commitees to go look over. If things are not liked, that area is looked at again. There are a few more of us that are on subcommitees working with some of the commitee heads, I am one of them.
Once that is done ( that is where we are now ) it goes for public review. then when that time is over it goes back to the commitees to fix and go over before being sent to ANSI.
Do it think it will be perfect? No. I am hoping it make a level playing field for everyone so installers do not take all the blame. I also am worried who is going to control it. Believe me CFI is fight for the installer.

I really urge Inspectors to read the new standards, and speak during public review As Roland stated, control...new ANSI specs means new ANSI Certification to be qualified to inspect, Whole new set of standards,
You have 2 big players looking to teach standards,

    CFI and INSTALL. So far,
INSTALL is a major unionized labor force and teaches I believe a 3 or 4 year journeyman course...

You'll also have some independents offering certs foe re certification
