I don't mind thread splitting, but it often begins a new thread with a "half post" and makes for an odd reading experience. Sometimes it is better to let it run its course like any discussion, online, or face to face.

Here is one I looked at Thursday.

How many of you would have left this in place?

Few other snaps I can post if anyone is interested...

The rusted pins would have made it my decision to replace it. That will eventually bleed through, if light carpet is chosen.

Depending on the style and pile height, and if the tackstrip was in better condition, I could make it work just fine. A thin loop pile, would be questionable. The corner pieces wouldn't fly.

Crap rental or public housing, I could reuse most.

The type of floor would have had a huge bearing on whether it stayed or went. If it was concrete I would have repaired what was needed. Taking out tackless on concrete could leave big pock marks to contend with.
I noticed the guy double stripped, it must have been a stretch wall but it is also the narrow tackless. The gully looks to be quite wide though, soooooo it might get replaced with tritack.

Since Floorguy & Daris commented, here is a picture of the carpet. Only 2X stripped in one area. I don't believe it was due to it being a stretch wall either.

    Any other questions/comments?

The cushion doesn't look like it meets the requirements of the carpet. Is that ½" 6#??

That carpet would require a little tighter gully, but... I have had to make it work in the past, with just that scenario.

Looks like fire wood to me .. Easier and better for me to rip that junk up and put down real sticks the proper way .. Thats just me .. That cpt almost looks like tile or vinyl ..

Poor choice of words  Should have said "asked" instead of commented.

Good call Floorguy: 1/2" but probably 8 pound.

Anyone curious why I was commissioned????? Or who commissioned me?

Looks like quite a few high nails in the strip, "Bumps around the perimeter? Unsmooth & raggedy edgeges?
    The Big Orange?

    Youse guys is good:

    Mill request: "Pattern Defect"

Consumer's actual complaint: Carpet not tucked in at stairs; carpet loose in corner of family room; seam to office very noticeable."

    Big Blue, not big orange.

A couple shots of what the mill was told: not much problem here I can see. The consumer also has no complaint with the pattern appearance! 3/8" bow left across width and about 1/4" in the length.

And yes, I have rarely seen so many nails heads at or higher than the pins!

    Now for the consumer's complaints:
Note: both corners and the stairs cut 1/8- 3/8 short.
