   i have carpet in the dining room and vinyl roll in the kitchen that I want to tile completely. Is there any way be able to get the flooring level without removing the vinyl at the transition by using cement board?

   Is the vinyl on top of an underlayment? Or is it directly on the subfloor. What kind of subfloor do you have? Concrete or wood? If wood, what kind of wood product?

   It’s directly on the subfloor which is 3/4 inch plywood.
