I had my supply dude check on sealers without a tracer. He came up with a product from XL called XL-1. Has anyone used this and does it have tracers in it?

Not all black lights are the same.

You need to get a high intensity. Something about the UV wave being different.

Thank you! My husband always uses amber seam sealer, he says white latex is retarded.

I have an email into Capitol asking if the O-22 has sealers. Haven't got an answer back yet. I have some APAC seam sealer and it glowed really quick when I teste it. I may have O-22 in the van, I'll check in the morning.

I would imagine in a bowling alley their lite will make it pop.

Hey everybody! We were awarded this job today, and I don't think we were even the least expensive bidder ... customer said he didn't get the warm and fuzzy feeling that things would be done right with the others.:)

Anyway, to be safe, I am still looking for a seam sealer without UV tracers. Peter, I saw something you wrote earlier this year that says, "many sealers do not have UV tracers". Do you specifically know of one?

Tommy believes that the way he uses it, which is in in accordance with CFI standards, it should not show under the black lights, but if possible, it'd be nice to find one without the tracers. Just to help me sleep at night. Maybe it would be a good idea to have an inspector come with one of those lights and we'll do some tests?

Anyway, now I have to deal with these people picking the goofiest colors of checkerboard VCT, which (in my opinion) will be awful next to the carpet. I'm going out there tomorrow to try to fix that decision.

    Thanks!

Now I'm on the spot! Tia, I'll try to find one for you. I do know that Roberts Honey does have tracers though. Tommy is right: if kept wher eit should be, it should not show from the top. It is those little goobers that will kill you. It does not take very much to light up like a Christmas Tree under a strong Uv light.

Use PL Urethane, in a caulking gun. Fine cut on the tip, so it is a fine pencil lead bead.:yesss:

A little goes a long way.

Where can I get this PL Urethane? Do you have a brand name and/or supplier?

    Thanks,
    Tia

It is right with the Liquid Nails, in the paint section of Lowe's and Home Depot.

    Yellow tube.

    PL is the brand name.

I showed this to Tommy, and he noted that it is not recommended for use on polypropylene, which most of the carpet backings are made of. He's starting to think he should just not use seam sealer, and I'm starting to think he's right. If the manufacturer cannot suggest one, then it would be beyond his liability if something goes rotten, which he swears it won't. Butted up tight, good to go ... gosh, he's a 32-year professional, and I will always bow down to his opinon. He's very disturbed that the manufacturer won't recommend or suggest either an adhesive or seam sealer, and that makes me think twice, or more than twice. I'm thinking about asking for something in writing. How can a company sell a product and not have the items to install it correctly, or even have a suggestion? They're missing the boat actually, they could be selling the proper seam sealer w/out UV tracers and making a fortune.
