Is there any difference in installing hardwood floor on 1st and 2nd floor? I have not personally been to many houses with hardwood floor on 2nd floor, the only one I have been to a few years ago, had squeaking all over the 2nd floor, but the 1st floor seemed fine. Wondering if the condition on the 2nd floor is different? That's a typical PNW single family house and the subfloor should be plywood or OSB on both 1st and 2nd.

lots of times builders are cheap and space joists on the second floor on 19.5 or 24 inch centre. Then dumb dumb installers come rolling through and get right to work as if nothing is the matter... this I have seen cause issues. Other than that there is nothing of note that will be different on the instalation side.
